Agri Western Cape welcomed its new Chief Executive Officer, Mr Jannie Strydom, on 1 March 2019. Mr Strydom, who holds a Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Pretoria, took over the reins from Mr Carl Opperman, who retired after 20 years as CEO of the organisation. Mr Strydom has extensive experience as an agri specialist at financial institutions and lectured in Agriculture Management at Glen Agricultural College. He also worked at the national Department of Agriculture and more recently managed a cooperative development programme for a USA based company funded by USAID. Mr Strydom says he is honoured to follow in the footsteps of Mr Opperman who left a valuable legacy in the sector.

“The Western Cape is built on a thriving and specialized agricultural sector. It is a privilege to be involved in organized agriculture and to contribute to taking the sector, as an economic key player, even stronger into the future, “Mr Strydom said. – freshplaza.com
